Per Volquartz, Co-Chair
After graduating from Art Center College of Design in 1971 Per Volquartz embarked on his professional journey as a visual artist. During the years at Art Center Per Volquartz had studied under the world famous American minimalist hard edge painter, Lorser Feitelson. In 1976 he met Ansel Adams and Morley Baer in Yosemite Valley and their influence together with that of Feitelson brought him on his path in fine art photography of distilling scene content to the bare minimum, concentrating on essential elements. In contrast to many of today’s photographers Per Volquartz works with film exclusively, and prints all his own images by hand to museum standards
using traditional, non-digital methods. His photographic images have appeared in major magazines in the United States, Denmark, China and Poland.
